in 2007, we had a major issue – all projects were stuck and no matter which one we tried to close, it was beset with an obstacle. so i gathered the team and we tried to get to the root of it – we all agreed to focus on the root cause. we listed all projects that each admin was handling and then the status of that project and its dependencies; and i was noting it down in a drawing, labeling the level of dependency. i made this diagram for illustration which was also presented to management to obtain their commitment. within weeks we were all working to remove the biggest obstacle and by the next year (this was in november 2007) we had checked many of these projects as done.
